I was wondering. I haven't seen this in the rules, though I vaguely remember something about it in second edition. Let's take the Falcon for an example. Let's say that only Han is flying the ship. Nobody else is aboard. Can he operate the weapon turrets, ventral and dorsal, from the cockpit?
I know, game-wise, that we're talking about another action. So, there may be limitations there, through the multiple action rule.
The question is: Does someone have to be sitting in the turret to operate the guns? Or, can they be fired from the bridge?

In the Zahn novels, they can operate them from the cockpit. Chewie flies the ship and fires the ventral gun himself on at least one occasion. Maybe this even happened in ESB at one point (Leia flying and firing while Han and Chewie were trying to effect repairs)?

Is there an advantage to actually being in the turret? Or a disadvantage, aside from multiple actions, to fire them from the cockpit?
