Anyone else see this? I was wandering through the Star Wars section of my daughter's Disney+ account and saw something called "Empire of Dreams: The Story of the Star Wars Trilogy." It was somewhat over two hours and I had to start-stop a lot as my wife kept asking me to do stuff for her, but I enjoyed it and thought I would share a few thoughts: ** They had some test footage from some of the auditions. Interesting to see some of the actors reading lines which never made it to the films. Lucas wanted noobs for the "big three" characters so wouldn't let Harrison Ford audition at first because he'd been in American Graffiti. ** I knew that they were creating special effects totally from scratch, but had no idea that they were so behind. I guess they burned up half of their SFX budget without producing a single usable effect and were frantically working up until the end ... and they were six months behind as it was. ** It was interesting to me that they had so many shots of crew at work, almost as if they had planned to do a documentary from the onset. I mean, is it common to have cameras filming the guys who run the cameras? ** Funny to see some of the footage of Darth Vader with David Prowse doing the voice. He has a Scottish accent and nowhere near the projection of James Earl Jones. Anyway, I enjoyed the thing. Discuss.
