This is from the Star Wars thread on Dragonsfoot, but I thought it also fits well here.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have the print copy of the From a Certain Point of View and have read through the first six stories. I like all of them. I had this notion that it was just 40 stories in tribute of the 40th anniversary of the movie's release but it's even better ... so far they seem to be retelling the movie. Each story tells a scene (and they appear to be in order) from the original Star Wars movie.
(1) The captain of the Tantive V, trying to get Leia to Alderaan
(2) A stormtrooper invading the Tantive V
(3) An imperial officer dealing with, "there goes another one" when lifepods launched
(4) A jawa in the sandcrawler that found the two droids
(5) A Tusken Raider on Tatooine
(6) The red droid bought by Owen Lars from the Jawas
I'm hoping that this continues through the whole book, because it's been a fun ride so far.

You're not the first person I've had recommend this one. I haven't been watching any of the Disney book releases, partially because I'm still wading through all the old EU books that I wanted but never got to reading the first time around — but this one, and maybe Zahn's new Thrawn books, have definitely perked my ears.

There's a sequel that focuses on the time period around The Empire Strikes Back. Reviews on Amazon seem to say that it's just as good as the first From A Certain Point of View collection.
