Star Wars Soundtracks

I went out of town this weekend and gave the soundtracks to TFA and TLJ a listen.  While TLJ is a bit better than TFA, I think that they are the weakest SW soundtracks that Williams has turned out.  I didn't like the prequel films, but the prequel soundtracks are damn good.  Duel of the Fates on the Episode I soundtrack blows me away.  The original trilogy soundtracks are--all three-- fantastic soundtracks.

I do like some of the new themes on TLJ and the TFA tracks, but the two soundtracks just don't hold up to the six scores that have preceded them.

They also did an excellent three-parter on the original Star Wars score.

There is nothing like that original ’77 score. But TFA has really grown on me, to where I like it almost as much as ESB or RotJ.

Suites usually are good, taking the best themes into one piece.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with the original release of Star Wars as the best score. And, I like the original trilogy scores the best. But, the prequels are pretty damn good, too.

Sometimes things grow on me, and I've only heard TFA and TLJ once each, in total. I do like the major themes.
