Wikipedia links: Star ToursCaptain EOI don't really have much to say or discuss, other than that I'm half-convinced that these peculiar Disneyland attractions helped carry the tide through the late-80s dearth of new Star Wars media more than we realize. I realize Captain EO isn't Star Wars, and so is probably mostly off-topic to the board, but it was a big part of the Disney-Lucas partnership that began with EO and ended (I think) with Indiana Jones and The Temple of the Forbidden Eye—so in that context I think the two (or all three, really) are worth talking about together. Star Tours opened right at the beginning of 1987, almost exactly four months after Captain EO was put in. The ride cost $32 million, which is about as much as Return of the Jedi cost to make. When the ride started the park stayed open for the entire weekend without breaks, for a 60-hour marathon. As far as I know, that's the only time the park has ever stayed open past hours to the public. So it was hugely successful. You can see the distinctly Captain EO-inspired space suits for the characters here, and the huge opening crowds.

I found this blog post on the 1987 Press Kit. The poster featured in the post is the one I had framed over my bed. I believe my little sister has it now. link: disneyavenue.wordpress.com/2015/01/14/star-tours-original-press-kit-1987/The post also features an embedded Youtube video of the press kit tape, which I'll embed here since we can do that on Proboards. So, how about some videos? Press Kit Tape (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=580&v=EdCpAt358oU) Other videos of note are: The commercial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kp_tOOjsbk) The opening ceremony (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkPvb0qlORw) And last, but not least, while browsing around the internet I found this blog post on Star Wars Underworld, that made me aware of a complete 360º digital recreation of the original ride. The actual video is also digitally recreated, but it does a fantastic job copying the film frame for frame, complete with the little film skips in the middle of the ice asteroid and when the star destroyers show up.
